The estimating department constantly monitors the market to make sure that its prices are competitive and is committed to a pricing policy which ensures that they remain so. It is extremely unlikely that Printwize can be beaten regularly on price and quality; it is also worth remembering that it has the most sophisticated and modern presses, enabling it to produce the very finest quality.

The starting point for any print job is the studio. All Printwize studio staff are highly experienced and they also understand the creative process. They appreciate how long a designer has spent on a project and they make sure the initial artwork will be transformed into the perfect finished print project. They have all the latest hardware and software and Printwize ensures that all software is updated to the most current versions; similarly when new software is released which is deemed to be either relevant or useful, it will be acquired.

An example of innovation is the new ink concept “MetalFX”. This utilises metallic inks which can be mixed with conventional litho inks to give a stunning variety of colours and can, therefore, give creatives the chance to explore new dimensions and turn an ordinary print project into something quite different and eye-catching.

The studio at Printwize is equipped with the latest digital proofing machines. As each machine is specifically calibrated to match the presses at the current ISO standards, the quality of a proof from Printwize is virtually indistinguishable from the final printed result.

Once a print project has been passed for press it becomes the responsibility of the production department. Many print buyers have been driven to despair by the constant stream of excuses from printers’ production managers to explain the delays on their particular job. The Printwize philosophy is to keep its clients informed at all times and, if unforeseen problems occur, the client will be notified immediately with a truthful answer and a solution – it does not wait until receiving the client’s irate telephone call before explaining that there is a problem.

Should a technical problem arise in any job, the solution will have been discussed and remedial action taken prior to informing the customer of what needs to happen. Our aim is to exceed customer expectations and assist and advise on ways of not only enhancing the finished product, but of saving time and money.

As already mentioned, Printwize has state of the art printing presses consisting of a 6 colour B1 and a 5 colour B2, both with inline coating units. The presses use sophisticated computer technology to control every aspect of the printing process, and have the ability to recreate immediately the exact ink weights as a previous print job to ensure perfect results every time. We currently operate to FOGRA approved colour standards throughout the proofing and printing processes.

With the latest CTP (computer to plate) technology and fully automatic plate replacement, the set-up and make-ready times have been drastically reduced enabling a job to be produced in less time and with less wastage – thereby reducing overall costs.

Finishing

As you would expect from a professional printing company, Printwize undertakes the finishing of all jobs: from cutting and creasing to folding, inserting, collating, stitching and binding. They also have the facility to heat seal and mount large format graphic panels which are suitable for a variety of display environments.

Delivery

Printwize can deliver most jobs anywhere in the UK. It will also arrange overseas shipping where necessary. Tracking of all deliveries is computer controlled to ensure that the production department knows exactly where every dispatched item is at any given time.

Printwize encourages factory visits as they provide an opportunity to demonstrate just how sophisticated putting ink on paper has become. A factory visit gives a client the opportunity to see how a project progresses through the company, from receipt of artwork through to leaving on a pallet. A factory visit also gives a client the opportunity to meet the whole Printwize team and get some idea of the depth of knowledge on offer, and to discuss any particular subject important to the client.

Printwize has certainly come a long way since its conception in the 1960’s and founding in 1971. We have endured (and sometimes enjoyed!) the many technological revolutions which our industry has encountered since the change from metal typesetting and Letterpress printing to Lithography.
